The first mission of Biosphere 2 put eight people in a closed ecological system for two years. Since exiting September 26, 1993, the Biospherians have published their own works inspired by the experience they had living in Biosphere 2. Most remarkably, they want to share with people the insight they gained about their intimate relationship to our Earth's biosphere. For a class I had to role play as a Biospherian, and I would say after all the research I'd done, I also understand their world view and appreciation for the planet. In this post I will include some of the work the Biospherians have put out.
In a TedTalk, Jane Poynter talks about her 2 year mission in Biosphere 2 and the perspective she has gained from the experiment.
"This is a film about the lives of three of the original team of eight who lived inside Biosphere 2 for two years (Sept 26, 1991 – Sept 26, 1993). It will review what they learned, how they are applying that today in ‘Biosphere 1’ (earth’s biosphere) and what they are doing now with their work at Biosphere Foundation. The story will speak to a shift in consciousness that they experienced: the health of our biosphere is synonymous to the health of our wellbeing. Put in another way, we are all together and it is our responsibility to care for our earth’s biosphere. It is ours to love."

Mark Nelson's book about Biosphere 2:
"Pushing Our Limits is a fresh examination of Biosphere 2, the world’s first man-made mini-world, twenty-five years after its first closure experiment. Author Mark Nelson, one of the eight crew members locked in the enclosure during the 1991–1993 experiment, offers a compelling insider’s view of the dramatic story behind Biosphere 2."
